Going strong...
Thanks to the two-hundred-and-something organisers who are keeping their events up-to-date on SalsaMap, we've not got over 500 events listed at over 400 venues across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland!

Behind the scenes improvements
We are still working on improving the site - most of the recent changes have been behind the scenes or to tweak the way organisers add their events.
Fortunately, organisers all over the UK have been busy adding and updating their events. As I write this we have over 200 organisers with 470 classes and events around the UK!

Site update
We've just launched a site update. As well as quite a bit of restructuring, we've added some new features. For example, you can now search listings by entering a place name and specifying how far to search (of course, it is still easy to get back to the Map!).
Also quite exciting is that you can now search the listings on your mobile! We really could have done with this feature when the motorway was closed on our way to a class in London and we wanted to find somewhere else to dance that night. Oh well, next time!
These changes have been in the pipeline for a while now but dancing, the day jobs and (gasp) non-salsa activities have been holding things up. Watch this space as there is more to come!

Map improvement
Clicking on a venue marker on the map used to show you just the first two events at that venue. Well, you told us that it was confusing so we've changed it! Now when you click on the marker you'll get a list of all of the events for the venue.
Keep letting us know if you think there's anything we could add or improve on the site.

Still tweaking
We've fixed an annoying bug in the auto-completion of place names on the main map page (it used to lose some of what you'd typed if you were too quick for it!).
Also, events on a specific date now show the day of the week to save looking at the calendar each time. For example we now show "Sun 12 Nov 2006" instead of "12 Nov 2006".

Still counting...
We've just topped the 400 event mark. Thank you to all the organisers who've been adding new events (and confirming their venues).

More tweaks
We're still working on things behind the scenes, but have added a few small updates to the user experience!
For example, you can now use the arrow keys to move the map around (once you've clicked on it to select it) in the same way you can with Google
Maps. You can also use your mouse wheel (if you've got one) to zoom in and out.
Also, the text cursor now shows again in the search box on the main page. I know that had been bugging a few people!

Minor Changes
Things have been quite busy, but we are still working on the site. There have been a few minor changes over the last few months. For example, when you first load SalsaMap it displays a venue at random. No more bias to the South East - expect to see venues from all around England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland!

Happy New Year

Auto-complete in search

Improved searching
You can now enter major cities as well as postcodes when searching for locations.

Minor changes
If you hover over a marker on the map you will now get a little popup giving you the venue name.
The events list page now has links back to the map centred on the venue.
